What I'm Loving on this Wednesday

Happy Wednesday to all of my beautiful readers.
I just want to say thank you to those of you who do read.
I really appreciate and love each and everyone of you.

Today I'm loving something that's very close to my heart.
I was walking across campus today and I got a balloon.
Which made me really happy because I love balloons.
But it also made me really happy because of the message it had on it.
Written on the balloon was:
 "Be confident. You're beautiful."

It reminded me that even when I don't take the time to get all made up, I'm still beautiful.

Then as I went to the bathroom and I looked at the door of the stall and there was a post-it note that said:
"Love your body. Love yourself. You're beautiful."
(I would have taken a picture with this sign too, but I wasn't about to go pose with the bathroom stall door. That would have been way too hard to explain.)

Seeing both of these things made me feel so good.
It was just the pick me up I needed since I was feeling really gross today because I was so tired I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed and shower and get ready this morning.
Instead I threw on a t-shirt and shorts, hiked my hair up in a ponytail, washed off the remnants of yesterdays make-up, and made my way to class.

This week has been uber stressful.
And looking pretty everyday just wasn't my top priority.
So getting a balloon that told me I was pretty and reading it while I was going to the bathroom just reminded me of a lesson that I love so much.

Makeup and cosmetics aren't what makes a girl gorgeous. It's who she is and how she carries herself.
Being a size 0 isn't what makes someone beautiful. It's their confidence.
Our society is so quick to write off those who don't look the way we want them to, but we shouldn't.
Everyone is beautiful and there is something to love about every person no matter who they are or what they've done.

So to all of my beautiful readers, I love you just the way you are.
I think each and every one of you is so gorgeous and doesn't need to change a thing about the way you look.
Have a great rest of the week ladies (and gents, if you read this too).
Don't forget how beautiful you really are.

I carry your heart with me at all times

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
~ E.E. Cummings

Today, Mr. Cummings was speaking to my heart.
I miss my boy like none other.
I can't even explain to you how much I miss this kid.
But he must love me a lot because on Friday his behind will be stuck in a car with my dad and my brother for nine long hours on his way to see me.
I'm so lucky I have a guy like this.
It's been a real stressfull week. And it's Tuesday.
I have three tests, two papers, and one speech in the next week or so.
Blah.
I just keep reminding myself that my reward for stuyding and working hard is seeing my man.
And now back to the books (or notes rather) to keep studying.
Buh bye!

Hello Rain, Goodbye Warmth

Let me just start this off by saying that this week and next week are crazy.
Seriously crazy.
I have three tests and a paper due next week.
Wah.
I'm drowing in studying.
And reading.

Since I know you people are tired of hearing me rant about college let's change it up a little.

So there's this song.
It's called She's Like Texas.
It's by the wonderful Josh Abbott Band.

My boy got me hooked on this song.
There's this line in it that goes:

"Her moods can change like the weather out in Lubbock, but if you show her love, man she'll return it"

You know, I always thought this line was sweet.
I didn't understand the truth behind it.
Mother Nature in Lubbock is one moody chick.
Seriously.
Some one get her some chocolate.
I blogged a while ago about the nice weather in Lubbock.
That lasted all of two days.
Then it went back to being gross and hot.

I guess it's Mother Nature's time of the month because she decided that it should now go back to being cool weather, but this time not nice.
I woke up yesterday and it was raining.
And I don't mean just a little rain.
We had lakes forming on campus.
It got to be a little ridiculous.
Along with the rain came some intense wind.
Oh and 60 degree temps.

Mkay.
In Houston, 60 degrees isn't all that cold.
So I got myself out of bed, pulled on a t-shirt and my rain jacket, grabbed my favorite pair of shorts, and slipped my feet into my rain boots.

These are sort of what my boots look like except they're all little different!

Clearly, shorts were where this wardrobe choice went terribly wrong.
No one ever metioned to me that 60 degrees when it's rainy and windy, isn't nice at all.
I was shivering as I walked to class.
Not fun.
By the end of my 15 minute walk, my fingers were blue and my teeth were chattering.

Needless to say, I learned my lesson.
At least I thought.
The conditions were more or less the same this morning so I put on the same basic outfit, plus pants, minus shorts.
By the end of the 15 minute walk this time, I was sweating.
Basically, no luck for me when it comes to dressing for weather in Lubbock.

Hopefully, I'll get better considering it gets cold here.
Real cold.
We're talking negative temperatures here people.
I'm getting scared.
My wardrobe is not equipped for these extreme winter situations.
Truthfully, my wardrobe isn't even equipped for the artic temperatures that I encounter on a daily basis in my dorm room. I'm wearing two shirts, sweatpants, socks, slippers, and a blanket right now and I'm still cold. I need new clothes. I'm really wishin' I had some hot chocolate right about now.

I hope you all are warmer than I am.
Love to you all.

Yup, It's Friday {almost}

Dude.
Basically,
I've been an awful blogger as of late.
I've missed it so much.
This is my I miss you face.
It's also my sad-because-I-just-ate-rasins-on-accident face.
I don't like them.
Most of the time.

But really, I've been running around like a crazy person lately.
Eh, sort of.

Although, I do have some super fun exciting awesome news.

This news is:

I am now a member of the Tech Activities Board.

Or, ya know, just TAB.
We do all the plannin' and fun stuff on campus.
Check.
This would be my super excited face.
Also the I'm-glad-my-roommate-isn't-here-to-judge-me-while-I-take-pictures-of-myself face.

Alright, on top of that, this bookworm just got a 100 on her first reading quiz.

BOOM.

Today was an awesome day.

Although, I'm not gonna lie. There were two bad moments.
Hm, maybe three.

Bad moment number one:
Attempting to get coffee

So this morning I woke up extra early on a day I have an 8 o'clock class to go get coffee
I'm all pumped, ya know?
Got my cute little monogramed coffee cup.
I stroll on into the coffee/breakfast place like I own it and walk right into a man who works there.
Apparently I had just ignored a little sign that said "Hours 8-7"
Whoops.
But, come on, this is dumb people.
What about us crazy people who sign up for 8 am classes?
We need our coffee the most.

Well then I go over to another place.
They're out.
Today was just not a good morning for finding coffee.

I settled for diet coke.

Bad moment number dos:
Computers

Ok, so I'm already sleepy because I stayed up late the night before and now I couldn't have my coffee. I arrive at class and pick a seat in the 3rd row.
Let me just remind you.
The 3rd row.
There's about 40 rows.
Anyways.
The girl in front of me immediately whips out her computer.
Instead of taking notes like all the other kids.
She gets on skype.
Now people in front of me on facebook are distracting enough but skype, really?
Then, her boyfriend calls.
IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS.
And decides that 8 am is the perfect time for dancing.
He then procedes to put down his computer and march around wherever he was and do a little dance for the girl and the 9 rows behind her.
Dude.
Not cool.
Although, your dance was hilarious.
Take up another hobby.
Then they called each other back and forth for the rest of the class.

So to the girl in Government at 8 am:

Please do not sit in the 2nd row if you want to skype with other people.
Move to the back.
Or wait until after class.

Sincerly,
Angry chick behind you.

Bad moment number 3:
Burns

After class, I was feeling a little exhausted after trying to pay attention despite all the distractions goin' on. I decided to go grab some coffee. This time I was successful in getting coffee.
However, I was way too pumped about having coffee to remember that it's hot.
Dumb, I know.
I took a sip the minute it was in my cup.
I'm pretty sure I burned off the top layer of my esophagus.
Ouch.

Have a good weekend friends.
I'll get better at blogging everyday again soon.
In the meantime, tell all your friends how much you love reading about all the super exciting (or really boring) things I talk about.
Thanks.
Peace out, homes.

64 Degrees?

Hello, God.

This is Natalie.
I think there's been some kind of mix up.
You see...
This is West Texas.
It is September.
And it is, hold it...

64 degrees outside.

Not normal.
Yesterday I was sitting outside at the Tech football game sweating like no other.
Seriously, back sweat, butt sweat, armpit sweat, feet sweat.
Gross.

Then something a little crazy happened.
There was a dust-rain-wind (ish) type storm.
I'm not really sure what you call these because we don't have them where I'm from.
But basically, it got real windy real quick.
Then there were lots of clouds.
And I do mean a lot of clouds.
Then there were four rain drops.
And kablam!
It's like super nice and chilly outside.

Not that I'm complaining or anything because I much prefer this weather than sweating my tail feathers off. I'm just letting you know that weather out here changes so freaking fast.
I was blown away. Figuratively and literally.
(It was really windy)

Well, in other awesomely awesome news:
Texas Tech wrecked Texas State.
Yeah, buddy.
50-10.
The less awesome side of this:
Natalie decided she wanted to look cute and fit in up in Lubbock.
She wore her cute boots the game.
Natalie made the wrong choice.

Seriously, if my feet could hold a gun, they would have shot me by now.
They are all torn up.
Blisters on every toe.
Scabs on my heels and ankles.
The bottoms of my feel are all swelled up.
I'd post a picture, but let's be real.
You don't want to see this.
Boo for you boots.
Why'd you have to be so cute and make me want to wear you?
I'm just thankful I don't have to go to class tomorrow because there's no way these puppies could make it all the way across campus.

I am very sorry feet.
I really do love you.

Hope all of you have a wonderful, safe Labor Day.
Toodaloo.

Spicy Gators

Hi friends!
Today marks the completion of my first full week as a college student.
Let me just tell you, it's nothing like I thought it would be.
Like I am so far out of my comfort zone it's unreal.
As unreal as unicorns and fairies.
Although I wish those were real.

Anyways, I'm swamped with reading.
But I'm loving every minute of being in Lubbock.

Today I ran into a friend from dance while she was on a tour of the campus.
What are the odds of that?!
It was great to see her!
It was definitely the highlight of my morning.

I also applied to be a member of the Tech Board of Activities.
Or TAB as people in these parts call it.
Basically they plan all the fun stuff for students to do on campus.
Wish me luck.

Tonight, I'm going to Gatorfest.

It's a concert put on by a fraternity.
They close down Main street and have live music and fried alligator.
Everyone puts on their boots has a grand ole time.
Stoney Larue, Brandon Rhyder, Band of Heathens, and William Clark Green are performing.
I'm excited.
(even though I don't know any of these people).

Have a great weekend!
Bye kids.
