Stress, Stress, and More Stress

 Blah..
Can you say stress?
Yesterday, I had 80 pages to read.
40 pages in each book.
I only read twenty pages in each book.
I am going to have to split this reading up since I have to read a chapter in each book every week.
#Quotes
Then on top of the textbooks I have to read additional books on the side and write book reviews.
My brain is hurting so bad.
I wish I could read faster.

Made me laugh!
This captures my feelings towards all these stupid books.

I'm so sorry for not blogging yesterday but I was super busy with all this reading.
Trust me.
I would way rather have been blogging.

So, in order to make myself feel better, it's now time for Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday:

I kinda want this for my kitchen-- would this work in a kitchen?? Too many crumbs??
This would go so well in my dorm room!

Oh, speaking of dorms, sorry I haven't posted a picture of the new room yet.
I want to decorate a little bit more before I show it to you wonderful people.

Dessert?
These make me hungry.
I really want some yummy desserts.

paper flower wreath
This is so cool.
I wish I was crafty enought to make this.

Love me.
Such a good saying.

Peace out, bro.

A Little Bit of Wisdom

Well, hey there!
This week I've learned some life lessons.
Ya know the ones everyone tells you, but you ignore them until they hit you in the face?
Yeah, it's one of those.

So pretend I'm a cute little old man sitting on a bench in a park instead of an 18 year old.

You got your mental image..?

Ok. Here we go:

1. Things will not always go your way

Ok, this is one that I've known almost my entire life because basically anything I've ever tried out for I've haven't gotten.
 I rarely win anything.
(I did win a dollar once on a scratch off but I really didn't win because I had to spend a dollar to get the scratch off)
I don't have the best luck.
In fact, my luck is pretty much nonexsistent.

2. Everything happens for a reason

This is one that I'm sure you've heard at least 8 times in the past few months.
It's so true though.
At first, it may be hard to see the good in things but there is always a little bit of it.
Just keep your head up and keep smiling.
At least that's what I do.

3. Be Positive

There are so many days when all the bad things are so much easier to see than the good ones.
But when you're feeling down look for the benefits of your life.
They can be small things like your favorite candy or big things like the people who you're surrounded by. It doesn't matter but just remember the things that make you smile and you are bound to cheer up.

4. Don't be afraid to take chances

This is one that I've struggled with.
As I said, things don't tend to go my way.
So taking chances scares me.
I'm afraid of being told no again.
It's hard but I have to remind myself that if you don't ever take the chance you'll never know what it could have been.
So just get out there and go for what you want.
The worst thing that can happen is being told no.
And when that does happens just keep on trying.
If it's something you really are passionate about then don't take no for an answer.

5. You'll end up where you're supposed to eventually

Throughout your journey, you are going to end up on paths you never imagined for yourself but they are part of God's plan.
You're going to look back later and realize how all those unexpected twists combined to make your life even better than you ever thought it would be.
When times get tough or you're not where you thought you'd be just wait and see what's coming because it's bound to better than what you originally imagined.

So just remember that though things will not always go your way, everything happens for a reason so be positive and don't stop taking chances because you'll end up where you're supposed to eventually.

See what I did there :)
Ok, I'm off my park bench and back to being a teenager.
And now, I have some exciting news.
I am one of the newest pledges to Alpha Delta Pi.

Word.

Awkward and Awesome

Hello, hello!
I'm so happy to be back to blogging.
I've missed y'all so much.
I thought today to share some of my first college expierences I would do a little thing I like to call Awkward & Awesome. Ok, so I'm not original enough to come up with this idea. Some one else's creative mind did it for me. But I'm just gonna go ahead and roll with it. Read on, yo.

Awkward:

1. Getting locked out:
So this past week I've been going through Rush.
Yesterday was the last night of  going to the houses and we were supposed to wear a cocktail dress.
I was running a little late when I was getting dressed so I was kind of majorly stressin'.
I started to zip up my dress but realized I couldn't get it all the way.
I stepped out of my room to ask a girl for help.
As I did this, the door closed behind me with all of my things (including my keys) still in the room.
Big "uh oh" moment for me.
I had to sprint downstairs in my cocktail dress with no shoes on and grab my lock out key.
Then since I forgot my ID, I had no way of getting back into the hall and had to stop a passerby and beg him to open the door for me.
He was nice enough to do so.
Although at this point I think he was slightly embarassed by me since everyone in the lobby was staring at the girl in her super nice dress without shoes on the verge of tears.
Once inside the door, I had to wait on the elevator. (Trust me, it's the slowest elevator in the world)
I finally was able to get on the elevator.
At this point I was so thankful to be alone and have people stop judging me.
This was all fine and dandy until the power surged while I was in the elevator.
The elevator bounced a couple times and the lights stayed out for a few seconds.
I was stuck.
Then once the power kicked back on, I had to ride it all the way to the top and back down before the doors would open on my floor.
It was a scary couple of minutes for me.
Basically everyone in my dorm probably thinks I'm a crazy person and, really, I don't blame them one bit.
But it was definitely an awkward way to start off my day...

2. Climbing over people:
Seriously, don't you just hate it when the only open seats are in the middle of a row and you have to climb over everyones legs and whatever belongings they may have with them?
I sure do.
My first class today had 460 people in it..
Talk about intimidating on your first day of college.
I took the very last open seat in the enitre lecture hall.
The poor people who came in behind me were forced to sit on the floor or the stairs.
Good thing the fire marshall didn't choose today to stop by.

3. Looking like a freshman:
After I climbed over like 20 people, I settled in my seat and took out my notebook and a pen.
The girl next to me turns and stares for a moment.
Then she said:
 "You're a freshman, aren't you?"
Like I wasn't already feeling awkward after climbing on top of this girl..
Now she can tell I'm a freshman.
Man... apparently my emotions are super easy to read.
She knew that I had no idea what was going on or how I should act.
It's ok though. She was acutally kind of helpful.
So despite the fact that she made me feel little, I was glad I chose the seat next to her.

Awesome:

1. Chinese Food & Sweet Tea
My first night of fending for myself, I was too scared to go to the dining hall by myself.
So I stayed in my room and had pop tarts for dinner.
Super nutritional, I know.
When, I finally got the guts up to go downstairs and see what they had, I was so sad I had pop tarts the first day.
There is such yummy stuff down there.
I can have mexican, chinese, pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and all sorts of other things without even leaving my dorm.
I also discovered the have my favorite iced tea in the world.
It's called Gold Peak Tea.
If you haven't had it, go find some place that serves it and get yourself some.
Your taste buds will thank you.
And then proceed to beg for more and more.
Until you're so full of tea, you're about to pee your pants.
At least that's how it went for me.

2. Beach Volleyball
Ok, so generally I am terrible at any sport that require hand eye coordination, running, or a ball.
This said, when some of the girls in my hall invited me to go outside and play volleyball with them, I was very hesitant to agree.
I decided:
"Why not go and just watch? It won't hurt, plus you'll make some new friends"
Well, this plan did not work out because they didn't have enough people to play without me.
So this girl was in there with all the rest of 'em.
I was so scared.
But, then I discovered, I don't suck.
I was actually kind of good.
No, like really good.
I'm pretty much a pro now.
(Totally kidding, I still almost hit myself in the face with the ball)
Even though I still am terrible, I had fun, so for now I'm pretty stoked about it.

3. College Professors
Today was my first day of classes.
I walked in with no concept of what it was going to be like.
Thankfully, I got a professor with a good sense of humor.
At least, what seemed to be a good sense of humor.
We'll see as the semester progresses.
Anyways, that's not the reason I am including this in the awesome section.
The part that made me laugh today was actually a very serious point in his lecture.
He was going over our syllabus and his expectations.
Listed among things like:

- be respectful
- come to class
-take notes

Was:

"Do not chew tobacco in class"

I'm sure this was an issue in a previous class of his, but I sure got a kick out of imagining all the girls around me with big wads of dip in their mouths.

4. Reba
Does anyone remember this show?
I used to love watching Reba.
Today after class, I was reading "country's biggest stars" edition of people today and saw Reba's picture.
This made me really want to watch her show.
Netflix was disc only which was super disappointing.
Time for that higher level college thinking.
Also called plan B or I guess Hulu works too...
I'm going to stick with just plan B because it makes me feel smart.
Anyway, those awesome folks at Hulu had it!
Ive already watched 3 episodes today.
This was maybe not the best idea if I want to get anything accomplished.
But it's been keeping me entertained.

Have an awesome day.
Im so pumped to be back.

Oh! By the way, if you want to be awesome like me

A Temporary Unwanted Break

Hi guys and gals.
Ladies and gents.
Boys and girls.
Yeah, you get the point.
Well, sad news for me this morning..
I missed Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday yet again..
I should be more on top of what day of the week it is.
Since I missed it, here's a find from this week:

San Giulio, Italy.
I wish Keegs and I could be there right now. SO pretty!

The reason for my accidental disappearance was that I was at a sleepover with my girls.

The last one before the four of us head on off to college.
It was fun.
We watched all our favorite movies (including Spice World because, really, what is a sleepover with no Spice Girls?) and ate ice cream and cookies.
It was fun. Although I'm a super lame-o and fell asleep while watching one of the movies. It was like 1 AM.. Basically, I'm pathetic. I had a good time and it was a great way to end our time together for now. It's probably the last time we will all be together until Thanksgiving.

Today is my last day at home and I said I wasn't going to blog today because I should be enjoying this time with my man, but I decided to take the time to let you awesome people know that it will probably be a few days before I can find the time to blog again. Like the title says, A Temporary Unwanted Break...

So while I'm gone be looking forward to these awesome things:

1. I'll be showing you all my dorm room whenever I finish decorating and unpacking and such.

2. I will be filling you in on all the details involving move-in day and the drive up there (don't get too excited for this one.. probs won't be so interesting)

3. Once Rush is finished I'll tell you all about what sorority I'm in and other such things.

Ok, so they're not so awesome, but thats what I'll be doing for the next few days while you people are going about your normal daily routines.

Now, I'm going to go enjoy the rest of the day with my boy and my family. I'll try not to cry my eyes out too much (oh, wait, that's impossible).

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll talk to ya in a few days.

Goals & Time Machines

Right now I wish I had a time machine.
I wish I could slow down these next two days and make them last a week.
I am not ready to leave my home.
I am scared.
I wish I could pretend to be 5 and turn one of these cardboard boxes filled with my shoes into a time machine.
Then I could soak up every moment with my family and my man.

I had to make some goals today when I was taking my alcohol education class and I decided to shared those goals here:

1. You will focus on your school work. Academics are your number one priority. Do not forget the reasons you are going to college. Work your butt of so you can one day make all your dreams come true.

2. Let your relationship with Keegan thrive and change with the distance. It will be good for the two of you. You will learn so much about each other from being away.

Remember:
Distance makes the heart grow fonder.
Don't forget it.

Remember the way the two of you feel for one another while you're together and don't let anything compromise that while you're apart.

3. Be outgoing and involved.
Don't be an observer in your own life.
You do best when you are busy so don't let yourself be idle.

4. Don't let yourself become overwhelmed.
You are in control of the way you live your life.
Don't let the fears of being on your own and the new responsibilities overcome your ability to enjoy all the good things coming for you.

5. Have fun. Be happy. Laugh a lot.
Don't take anything for granted.
This is the beginning of everything to come.
Do with it what you want to.

Please pray for me on this new journey

Football Bro

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Hello hello!
I decided since I'm craving some fall weather, why not talk about a fall sport?
Well, that's exactly what I'm doing.
My miscellany monday today is gonna be about football.

One
I have some good news for those football fans living in Houston.
Ya know our football team that tends to lose every game..?
Well, those Texans just pulled out a win.
Shocker, if you ask me
(Although, if I were you, I would not ask me)

Two
I do not watch professional football.
(This is why I said you should not ask me)
I think its kind of boring.
I'm a college football girl.
I find it way more fun.
Good thing I'm a college girl now, huh?
And I go to an awesome school that gives free tickets to all students.
I'm pretty psyched.
{Ohhh sidenote, who watched the Pysch marathon today?
I did! I love that show.
SOO funny!}

Back to what I am talking about.

Three
The first time I ever had a real conversation with Keegan's dad it was all about football.
While I like watching football, my knowledge of coaches, players, and other junk like that is very limited.
I ran out of things to say very quickly and ended up just agreeing with anything he said.
This went well until he began asking me questions about people and games I knew not of.
I hope he did not judge me for my answers that made almost absolutely no sense.

Four
Every year, my dad buys tickets to the University of Houston games.
The first time Keegan met my dad was when he came to one of the games with us.
It was a pretty uneventful game.
I think UH was losing by a considerable amount so I got a little bored.
I swear I only closed my eyes for a second, but apparently I slept through most of the 3rd quarter.

Five
Being completely honest, I only like watching football because it reminds me of fall.
I can't wait to go to a game where it's not 100 degrees outside.
That sounds so much more enjoyable than sweating my booty off while trying to watch sports.
(Sorry about the cheese level in this picture, I couldn't find one I liked better)

PS ~ I am sorry that I have talked about Fall so much in these past few posts. I'm just getting really excited. It's my fav ya know :)

Peace out homeslices

Is It Fall Yet?

fall

I can't wait for it to look like this.
Well, almost like this since the trees don't change that much where I'm from.
Today I realized how fast this summer went by.
I only have 5 days left at home.
4 really since I will be driving all day on the 19th.

I'm so sad to be leaving my childhood home, my mom, and Keegan.
But I'm so excited to go.
I know this is nerdy, but I am excited for school to start.
I like going to class and learning things.
Theres so much to look forward to these next few months.

What I'm looking forward to the most is the month of October.
It holds all sorts of big things for me.
The first is that the weekend of October 7th, I get to come home.
I booked my tickets this morning.
It will be the first time I get to come home after leaving.
I'll get to see my wonderful boyfriend, as well as my momma.

It worked out perfectly that I get to be home that weekend because October 3rd is a big day for me and my man. We will have officially been together for a year although it feels like so much longer than that. We will definitely be enjoying our quality time together for the 5 days that I'll be home.

October also holds a special day for that sweet boy I'm always talking about.
He turns 19 on October 20th.

Other awesome fall things to be excited about:

1. Football

2. Clean crisp air
3. Cooler weather
4. Cute fall clothes
5. The leaves

I can't wait.
Happy (early) Fall Y'all.

Saturday's Are For Fact's From Fridays

Well, yesterday I dropped of the face of the planet. I fell asleep before I could come up with anything remotely interesting to say to you awesome people. Anyways, I remembered this morning that I had really wanted to do a link up with Raids of Orange called Fact About Me Friday. Then as I turned on my computer to write today, it dawned on me that I can do whatever I want. It's my blog. So strap yourselves in for Fact About Me Friday on Saturday. Heck yes.

Uno
I took German in high school.
Random, I know..
At the time I thought I was being awesome and different, but now I realize that it was most just silly because no one in Texas speaks any German and it is therefore useless. Whatever.

Zwei
(That's two in German)
I am terrible at painting nails. I know 8 year olds that can do a better job than I can. It's honestly pathetic. I am not a girl.
Let's rephrase, I am not a girl in the sense that I am good at girly things.
I am a girl in all other senses.

Three
I have a hidden talent for breaking any and all things electronic.
I have said this before, but today I felt it necessary to post it again considering how much trouble I have gone through in the past ten minutes while trying to write this post.
Seriously, there were some real struggles.

4
I am super clumsy. I completely wiped out in the middle of the grocery store after slipping over seemingly nothing. I'm going to stick to the story that there was water on the floor but there are no guarantees on that one.

Number Five
I'm going to preface this one by assuring you that I am not crazy.
I have it on good authority.
...
Sometimes I forget what I look like.
It's not often that this happens, but occasionally I just can not for the life of me remember what I look like.
It's not normal.

So self, this is what you look like

You're on the left, because we have already established you are a girl.

Alright, since I am all out of order with my days and link ups I may as well include a Pinterest find since I also missed Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday.

I need to remember this! It would make me a much happier person
I liked this quote so much. I needed to stumble on it so much sooner than I did.
But I'm glad I've found it now.

Auf Wiedersehen! Until tomorrow lovekins.

Fish & Other Random Tidbits.

Oh hey bros.
I don't know about you but I find Thursday to be a strange day.
There's just something about it that's not quite like all the other days.
I was roaming around the blog world, ya know just clicking and discovering, and I stumbled on this lovely bloggity blog. I like it.
Anyways I saw one of her posts and I thought it was fun so I decided to do the same thing. With my own answers, of course.

So here goes: A Quizzy Thing.
Basically you get to know all those random questions you've been dying to ask me.

1. What do you feel is your greatest achievement?
Catching that fish.
I would also say graduating high school and getting into an awesome college are pretty high on the list. Yup.

2. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
I wouldn't change anything except my attitude towards things. I've been working on seeing all the positives and I think that's something everyone could stand to change.

3. What is your greatest dream/ambition?
I want to be successful at whatever job I have. My dream job would be as a news anchor for one of the big networks. So, yeah, I would say that's my biggest dream. I also want to travel and see the world, but not in the touristy way. I want to experience different cultures, not just see old buildings and stuff. Also, I would like to catch another fish. Preferably a bigger one than that one.

4. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Weird, I definitely just mentioned traveling. I guess I should have read all the questions before answering them. I want to go all sorts of places. Right now, I'm dreaming of Rome. Oooh, or Greece.

5. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
I like that I'm comfortable with myself. I know who I am and I am not ashamed of it. I definitely have my doubts, but overall I'm pretty content with the way things are going for me and where I'm at.
6. Least favorite thing?
I obssess over EVERYTHING... like seriously, everything.
It can be the tiniest thing in the world, but I will be thinking about it all day.
It's kind of a huge pain in the booty.

7. Who is your favorite singer/artist?
Hmm. There are so so many. Right now, I'm likin' Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Ingrid Michaelson, Adele, Florence + the Machine, Trace Adkins, and so many more.

8. What is your greatest fear?
1.Feet make me cringe. I'm getting better about that though!
2. Losing Keegan, or anyone else I'm really close to for that matter
3. I'm scared to die without really living.

9. How old are you?
18 dawg.

10. What is your favorite candy?
Dark chocolate peanut M&M's.
I just died a little bit inside thinking about them.
That's how obsessed I am.
Candy shouldn't make me this happy..

The end. Peace out.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy hump day darlings.
(I'm immature enough that I laughed while typing this teehee. I hope you laughed when reading it)
I thought I'd today I'd link up for What I'm Loving Wednesdays.
So here goes:

1. I'm loving nap time. I laid down today for a two hour nap. It was delightful
2. I'm loving that I get to go to the beach on Friday with my handsome man.

If only it looked like this one...
Instead we get the icky brown waters of Galveston.

3. I'm loving that tomorrow is the last day I am babysitting. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed doing it but I am very glad to be done. I am excited to not spend the majority of my day with people under 10 again.

4. I'm loving (like seriously loving) my red Toms and my Toms sunglasses

5. Lastly, I'm loving my awesome boy. He's the best.

Do You Remember

"Do you remember when we first met? I sure do.
It was some time in early September
You were lazy about it, you made me wait around
I was so crazy about you I didn't mind" ~ Jack Johnson

For those of you who remember, I mention a few posts back that me and the boyfriend were taking pictures with one of our super talented photographer friends. Seriously, this chick is crazy talented! Plus super nice. Check her out (http://katiemurat.blogspot.com/) you won't be sorry you did.
I know this post should be about my vacay but right now this is what i'm feeling.
I was so excited when I got my little hands on this cd.
Here's a few my favs

I honestly can't tell you how I landed this stud, but I'm sure glad I did.

"Only a life lived for others is worth living" ~ Albert Einstein

"It's not always easy and
Sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together" ~ Jack Johnson

I love that we can be silly with each other.
I love that no matter what we do we always have fun.

"Like a river flows so surely to the sea
Oh my darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
So won't you please take my hand, and take my whole life too
Cause I can't help falling in love, in love with you
Cause I can't help falling in love, falling in love, I keep falling in love with you" ~ Ingrid Michaelson

He's my first real best friend.
He's my first boy friend.
He's the first person I've ever loved and the last person I ever want to.

I hope you enjoyed these! I know I did.
I saved the best for last.

Save me San Francisco

Hi yall!
I finally found a little bit of Wifi.
The trip has been fun so far!
We`ve been doing all the tourist-y things.
You know, riding the cable cars, fishermans wharf, muir woods to see the redwoods, the golden gate and bay bridges. Its been great, except this texas girl has been freezing her butt off. I know that I should be lovin this break from the blazing heat but im so cold!

Anyways, I learned something interesting today that I thought I would share with you. For those of you who watch the Bachelor, you`ll remember the Jake and Vienna season when the girls stayed at the Castello di Amorosa. Well, it turns out the whole thin was staged because no one is allowed to stay overnight at the winery due to permit issues. Pretty crazy, huh? Just thought i`d share, especially since the finale of the Bachelorette is tonight. I wonder how much of that is staged..

Well, thats all I have for now cupcakes.
Ill do my best to keep ya updated :)
